Beneath the Singapore Sky - 2nd Edition

Beneath the Singapore Sky, my first historical novel has undergone some editorial changes. It is now with the Proofreader.I've not made any progress in finding a suitable publisher due to the constraints of going back into a full-time position, which has curtailed my writing,too.

Some people were inquiring how to purchase my novels. Finally there is a purchase button with PayPal for them. These are limited edition novels, so they are not in  any major stores. Once they are gone, that's it!

A number of Singaporeans have read, both my books and the feedback was glowing, something I did not expect. They think I should write another sequel. What do you think? Would you like me to give you excerpts of both the novels?

My second novel has only 30 copies left. All books bought from this blog-site will be a signed by myself.

Is Spring Over?

It is early JUNE and Usually in Ottawa, the lilacs are in full bloom and the Peony bushes are laden with various sizes of buds in hues of pinks, with their intoxicating fragrance permeating the outdoors.

Well this year, the lilacs are gone, since they arrived in mid-May and the peonies are almost past their peak. Our spring came too early and it was one of the warmest recorded spring we've seen.  Some people were even in shorts in the balmy days of May.

Today, on the second day of June we had a thunderstorm, in fact we had tropical storms this couple of days and more to come in the next few days. Ottawa had a reputation of being one of the coldest capitals but now, that claim is suspect. Is this the result of global warming?? Actually, our past winter was quite mild, too. Florida, watch out, you might not get your usual "snowbird" residents next winter. One of my friends have some red cardinals ( of course, I meant the feathered kind) in her backyard. Perhaps in another post, we will mention some of our feathered friends who have made Ottawa their home.

On the next post, we'll give you a glimpse of what Ottawans do in the summer and one of my first summer activity - my move in three weeks to my ideal location. As for now, working full-time, packing for the move and writing - where do I get the energy - if you're familiar with my blog, then you know the answer! If you're not familiar, then get busy and read my posts to find the answer.

Tip Toe through the Tulips

Just a couple of days before the tulip festival, before the sea of tourist will descend on the capital city of Ottawa, I walked on this cool spring day with just a few people about. Oh, words cannot describe the beauty that enfolded me as I walked by the Rideau Canal and Dow's Lake.

The myriad of colors, yellow, white, red, fuscia, purple, orange, pink, bi-colored and there were two beds of peonies, I thought. Closer inspection revealed, the Monte Carlo which was yellow, multi-petaled  and the red Miranda. I have never seen tulips that were like rosettes, before. Many of the varieties were scented, too. This year, Holland's queen will be the guest of honor at the festival. It was her mother who has sent millions of tulips bulbs every year in thanksgiving to the Canadian people who sheltered her and her little daughters during World War II.

O what a feast for the senses! Ottawa has definitely been transformed to a huge beautiful flower garden.
