So what do you do when a few people who bought your book ask, " So when will the Sequel be out?"
It is on the back cover of the present novel Beneath the Singapore Sky that a sequel will follow. Yet it surprised me that it provoked interest even though these customers did not even begin reading the first chapter of book that they were holding. "Before Christmas," I blurted.
I realized as soon as the words were out that I had just given myself a deadline.
Nothing like a deadline for a writer to prevent the deadly procrastination. So I started working on Lucia M of Singapore enthusiastically initially. However, after a few chapters, I realized I was not dreaming of the next chapters as I did the first novel. My heart sank. Where was the ideas for next plot or chapter going to come from? Did writing my first novel attach me to my dreams? Perhaps!
Although, this novel was more of a challenge to write, I believe it had made me more creative, especially my format changed from the first one.. So much so, that I have decided to rewrite the format for Beneath the Singapore Sky for the second edition or printing. The story will not change but how it is presented will. I am gearing up for another book signing and a reading for the public library.
If any of you had done a reading for you book, please send me your views and what to expect as this will be the first for me. I have not really done a book launch yet, however in September I will be doing my third book signing in Toronto. If any of you are in the vicinity, you're invited to attend.
